The majority of Americans (54 percent according to a recent Pew Research Center Study) support the legalization of marijuana.

But until more states join the ranks of Washington and Colorado, which legalized the sale of marijuana in 2012, the only way for most law-abiding Americans to get the drug is to buy it at a dispensary.

Browse all 2,919 medical marijuana dispensaries

We wanted to know (obtaining a medical marijuana card aside), how difficult is it to find marijuana in the 20 states that sell it?

It looks like a piece of cake in California, where there are more than 2,000 dispensaries. But the establishments aren’t so common in all states where medical marijuana is legal. Check out the top 10 states by number of dispensaries per square foot in the graph below.

Note this graph is based on a database that our users helped build. We’re always welcoming new entries. To add a location we don’t have yet, visit the comparison here, and scroll to the bottom of the page, until you see the “add listing” button. Thanks!

Wouldn’t per head of population make more sense? I suspect the queues are longer in Providence than enthusiasts would like.

The best way to determine good alcohol is to drink a little more than you should. If you don’t get a headache from over drinking it is good to drink again.

  • ralph

Colorado ….degenerate but proud! Very sad!

    • Edward Schlosser

Yes, we know you fascists believe that liberty is degenerate. Now you can down a 12 pack and slap your wife around in frustration.

  • Norma Butcher

Keep the populace stoned so they care even less than they ALREADY do about what’s REALLY going on around them. i.e. their loss of rights, freedoms, etc.

    • maryjane from maine

You are obviously not a proponent of legalizing marijuana. There are plenty of us that participate and are still very involved in my party and what is going on in the world. Could you not say the same for all of the alcoholics that drink everyday. I can at least get up in the morning with out feeling like crap or falling down all over or better yet killing folks because of drunk driving. Let’s not forget about all those dammed video games aren’t they really out there to warehouse all those that can’t get work, so they sit playing games all day, I know plenty of those folks and most of them don’t get involved in politics or there communities. So please do not pick on those of us who use for both medicinal and recreation because you prefer no to, just as I prefer not to drink. Some folks no matter what will not care to get involved regardless of what they are or are not smoking.

      • ZaZa216

Keep drinking that booze! Ya liver depends on it!

      • Patty

Thank you for speaking out for those of us who enjoy marijuana recreationally and responsibly. I so resent the misnomers of “pothead” or “stoner” simply because I like to smoke pot. Not everyone who drinks is an alcoholic; not everyone who smokes is a “stoner”! As a recovering alcoholic myself, I am all too familiar with the effects of alcohol on family life and personal health. I’m so tired of being a criminal for coming home from a productive day of work teaching and having a hit or two before I start on the second part of my day, the house chores. I’m happy and productive – not a threat to anyone!

  • jd

looks like you want to deny me my rights Miss Butcher. Are you employed in the private prison industry?

If it was legal in the whole United State, we wouldn’t be broke like we are.

    God of Israel “Be holy,
    because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:16

    Several States in the American
Union have legalized the recreational use of marijuana even with studies that
state that this drug leads to the use of even more dangerous addictions. How
safe is your life, liberty and property if your neighbors are intoxicated,
doped up, and mentally impaired, and being so addicted, they are dependent upon
the State’s permission to feed their habit. Certainly, their vote, a delegation
of sovereign authority, will be used to raise up and maintain wicked
magistrates who will be more than happy to support a voters dangerous
addictions while conspiring to rob every citizen of everything valuable. Vattel
in ‘The Law of Nations’ writes, ” But if they (public magistrates) corrupt the
morals of the people, spread a taste for luxury, effeminacy, a rage for
licentious pleasures…beware, citizens! beware of those corruptors! they only
aim at purchasing slaves in order to exercise over them an arbitrary
sway.” The foundation of democracy is
virtue. The virtue of the people is the internal law that results in good
behavior which is the requirement of self-government in a federal republic.
However, if the people become corrupted, we as nation go from self-government
to “survival of the fittest,” from a democracy to a mobocracy, and from the mob
a strong man must rise who is called a dictator

    Vattel “It is an incontestable
truth, that the virtues of the citizens constitute the most happy dispositions
that can be desired by a just and wise government.

Example: Marijuana and other drugs destroys the jury system –
a loss of protection of life, liberty, and property.

David Hardy ‘Juror Testimony’ transcript “he felt like…the jury was on
one big party…seven jurors drank alcohol….Hardy stated that on several
occasions he observed two jurors having one or two mixed drinks during the
lunch recess, and one other juror, who was also the foreperson, having a liter
of wine…three other jurors smoked marijuana quite regularly during the trial.
Moreover, Hardy stated that during the trail he observed one juror ingest cocaine
five times and another juror ingest cocaine two or three times. One juror sold
a quarter pound of marijuana to another juror during the trial, and took
marijuana, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia into the courthouse. Hardy noted
that some of the jurors were falling asleep during trial, and that one of the
jurors described himself to Hardy as ‘flying’.

Ges 1:29-30 God says that every Herb bearing its own seed is good for mans meat. This sir; God also says that every thing that He created is Very Good this is not a Legal issue, it is a moral one sir to abuse Gods creation or to use what God has given to us to use not abuse.

Bible Lesson: Gal.5:19-20 “Now the deeds of the flesh are obvious, which are: adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, 20. idolatry, sorcery, hatred…” “SORCERY ” is translated from φαρμακεία meaning pharmacies or dispenser of drugs; marijuana has THC which is a hallucinogen and is a form of sorcery.

God does allow for every edible plants that is food for food…

Genesis 1:29 God said, ” I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food.”

However, God does not allow ‘strange fire’ such as marijuana in His Temple which the place of His law. In fact, the use of it in the public Courthouse requires the death penalty according to Leviticus 10:1-2: “Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer, and put fire in it, and laid incense on it, and offered strange fire before Yahweh, which he had not commanded them. Fire came out from before Yahweh, and devoured them, and they died before Yahweh.” Marijuana is a mind altering hallucinogen and not food and is classified as witchcraft and sorcery. Leviticus 20:27“A man or a woman that is a medium, or is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones. Their blood shall be upon them.’” Mica 5:12 “I will destroy witchcraft from your hand; and you shall have no soothsayers. Note: The method of mediums, wizard, and the sorcerer is the use of potions as pseudo-medical remedies (snake oil,) poison for the assassin or hallucinogenic for the spiritualist. Today, we may call such use as illicit drugs and narcotics.

If you read the record; Salem Witch Burning was violation of the Bible due process of law and evidence.

The fight that is going on against Christianity and God’s law
is really a fight against the protection of life, liberty, and property,
and the raising of tyranny by the loss of due process of
law. The common law which protects your rights were developed by
English Christian jurists who incorporated precepts of the Bible into the
common law, and this laid the foundation of every American’s
protection of life, liberty, and property.

It looks like you guys didn’t get the memo. There is no god. People made him up. Live your life the best you can, and try not to control others. Don’t touch my stuff without my permission and I won’t touch your stuff without your permission. Do that and all will work out just fine. Be happy, your god would have wanted that for you. But at the very least please quit pretending that you know what a pretend god is thinking or was thinking. It’s nonsense and it is holding you and the rest of us back.

joel, You know not what you speak of. Twisting scripture has been around a long time, it appears you are a victim. Why not retranslate the entire scripture maybe then you can justify your ignorance. It is not what enters the mouth that defiles a man but what comes from the mouth. You have defiled yourself and shown your lack of understanding.
